Nigel Tisdall, Travel Writer Tunisia would be a great place to set yourself up in a beach hotel to watch the World Cup this June. The weather should be perfect. Tunisians are football-mad, and having qualified for Germany you can be sure of some great atmosphere when they meet Saudia Arabia, Spain and Ukraine in the first round of the tournament.
Ric Fullerton, Travel Counsellor Tunisia will suit anyone who likes good beaches, local customs and plenty of history. It doesn’t suit the 18-30 crowd and it doesn’t suit anyone who doesn’t like being approached in the street. I find some street sellers can be quite aggressive and don’t like to take no for an answer. There is a lot of begging. There’s good weather in May, June, October and November but it is very hot in July, August and September. I don’t find the food brilliant and entertainment is basic.
Tracey Redpath, Travel Counsellor I had a trip to Hammamet in November, if it’s sun you’re looking for at that time of year forget it. Although, it’s a great time of year for golfers. The Spa facilities in the larger hotels, like the Hasdrabul Thalassa, are wonderful and probably among the best in the world. Everyone who visits Tunisia must have a camel ride. It’s hilarious. And always, always haggle when buying at the markets.
