Heat and cold Tunisia enjoys a Mediterranean climate but perfect weather is not guaranteed - winters can be cold, especially in the north, and there’s a fair bit of rain at times. By contrast, summers are baking, especially the months of July and August. In general, the further south you go the warmer it gets.

Ramadan Ramadan is a month-long Islamic festival where participating Tunisians will fast from sunrise to sunset. Many shops, bars and cafés are closed during the day and although life in the tourist areas continues much as normal, there is a noticeably different atmosphere. This year Ramadan starts on 23 September.
